While walking in the snow this past January, I had an inspiration for artwork for band merch — a “coat of arms”. With 20 years under our belts, we’ve earned some “heraldry”. 🙂
My idea was to play with the essential, traditional elements — an escutcheon (shield) with supporters, a crest, and a motto – but stay fun and modern and musical.
The truth is that I can barely draw a stick figure. Happily, Sonoma County artist Chiara Sarter agreed to tackle the project.
She realised our heraldic achievement by drawing our skull and crossbones logo as the helmet adding Naked Ladies (Amaryllis belladonna) as the “crown”.
Our two magpies became our “supporters”. Our “shield” shows the instruments we play. Our motto is our byline “Hard to Describe, Easy to Love”. Of course, our mascot Death had to be there. And, Chiara tucked the roman numerals XX in the design to celebrate our 20 years.
Aquí está nuestro nuevo “escudo de armas” which will be on our new sweatshirts and stickers.
SWEATSHIRTS
2nd Wind Printing does beautiful, true silk-screening. Our design is a 4 color image which looks fantastic against the sweatshirt colors.
We’ll be selling them for $40 at our shows.
Quantities are somewhat limited. If you would like to reserve one and pre-pay online, I will save them for you to pick up at one of our shows.
Note: I cannot ship items.
