About A Mad, Mad World

It’s a wild and crazy adventure bringing music into the world so one might as well talk about it. This band of intrepid performers has accumulated a respectable enough amount of time pushing notes around to be able to say something on the subject. And besides it is a pleasure to share the lives and times of the musically inclined.

We’ll try and keep it on topic but there’s no promise.

Answers to the FAQ if we had one:

• The Mad Maggies formed in 2004 to record one CD, Crazed and Enthused.

• We started gigging and one thing led toanother CD, Magdalena’s Revenge in 2007 and our third CD, Skull & Magpies in 2009. In 2010 we couldn’t resist laying down some of our favorite gems from the past for our fourth CD “Flashbacks – the Mad Maggies Play Vintage Hits. In 2011 we released, Shake Those Bones” — a continuation of our adventures on the high seas.

• Director, Paul Haggis found our tune, “Sleepy Maggie” on the internet somewhere and the rest is television history.

• Mags accordion weighs about 16 lbs.

• GDub really is of Icelandic ancestry.

• Adrian really does speak Chinese.

• Actually we are quite the polyglots and between us can speak French, Spanish, Hebrew, Welsh, German, a smattering of Czech and Gaelic and the aforementioned Chinese. GDub is learning French and Mags is learning Irish Gaelic.

• Our mascots are a tiding of magpies and a beanie baby named “Death”.

• “Death” comes to all our shows. Look for him somewhere on stage. He’s always there.
