This is (quite obviously) our mascot Death’s favorite holiday.

• The Victoria and Albert Museum unpack several antique “memento mori” pieces – rare, strange and fascinating:
• The new Guinness Book of Records winner of tallest “Catrina” is now on display in Zócalo square in Ciudad de Mexico. She stands at 33 meters = almost 110 feet !
• Oakland has a new, beautiful Catrina on display
• Lastly, designer Alexander McQueen forms a slinky dress from handcrafted crochet skulls. The skull shape is a super simple crochet pattern that one can find anywhere. The fancy touch here is the metallic thread and bead accents.
New Video — a timely dose of positive energy
I’ve been fretting and fuming about the state of affairs for a long time. Perhaps some of you feel as frustrated as I do. Well, existential angst be damned! Enough with the dreary feelings of powerlessness. I truly believe that we have what we need to set a better course. And, that is what this tune is about, besides being decidedly dance-inducing.
