GDub’s Reflections on 20 years of the Mad Maggies:
“For those who don’t know, Maggie was accordionista with Polkacide for 13 years. Several Polkacide members were in the first iteration of the MadMs (plus the bass player was from Those Darn Accordions). [Note: this was an all volunteer group, and no animals were harmed during the recording sessions.]
Because of a tendency to emphasize the up beats, and the obvious Polka connection, we were mistakenly referred to as a Polka band during the first years.
Nope, we’re not a Polka band, but we do play some original polkas. Pica Pica Polka is a staple in the set lists. This is the newer version with most of the current band lineup plus Zack Pitt-Smith on clarinet.”
