GDub’s Reflections on 20 years of the Mad Maggies
Cowbell, tuba, and accordion, what else does a song need?
A singer and a story–The Cards on the Table. ¡ Arriba Tingüindín !
THE CARDS ON THE TABLE
The cards are on the table
For everyone to see
that the Queen loves her Jack
And the Jack his Queen
The King doesn’t notice
perhaps he doesn’t care
He’s too busy winning money
and counting up his share
The Ace of Hearts is shocked
as is the Deuce of Spades
All the Diamonds and the Clubs
start to feel disarrayed
The King, slightly miffed
looks up from his hoard
saying “Shuffle and deal.
I’m a very busy lord!”
The cards are on the table
For everyone to see
that the Queen loves her Jack
And the Jack his Queen
Yes, the Queen has her Jack
and the Jack his Queen
While the King counts his money
assiduously
