GDub’s Reflections on 20 years of the Mad Maggies
La Pachulera has been described as,
“…like klezmer musicians stranded at a well-lubricated Tijuana wedding party.”
The slang word “pachulera” came to us via my amigo Bernardo. In D.F. (Distrito Federal, aka, Mexico City), a pachulera is a pot smoker who uses the patchouli scent to mask the pot smell. Up north, we call them “hippies” 😉
The original version is on our first album, Crazed and Enthused.
In 2014, we rerecorded the tune with the current (more or less) band lineup for the album, Still Standing.
