June 11 Accordion Day in SF Celebration

Calling all squeezers and those who love our bellowed beauties.

Event: Accordion Day in San Francisco
Day: Friday June 11, 2010

Location: Polk St. between Grove and McAllister

This is the 20th anniversary of San Francisco proclaiming the accordion as the city’s official instrument. Wow!

Tom Torriglia, who spearheaded the effort for SF to honor the accordion, has organized an event the City Hall steps. Mayor Gavin Newsom is expected to make an appearance at noon.

Underskore Orchestra is a Portland Oregon based band, playing a blend of original and traditional Balkan, Klezmer, Gypsy Jazz and Swing. They have toured U.S., Canada Europe, and Central America. Their newest project, which you’ll get to experience at this show, is RevelMe! — live Balkan/Klezmer/Swing inspired music and dance.

Amnesia Bar, voted best dive bar AND best swanky bar back to back, has a comfortable, music-loving atmosphere, a fancy cool sound system and reasonably priced drinks.

A Side of Mad Maggies: GDub (guitars), Johny Blood (tuba), Adrian (alto sax, bass clarinet) and yours madly on accordion.

I’ve said it before ;-) The food is simply stellar at the Speisekammer Restaurant. And the selection of German beer is outstanding!

We had a blast playing this last year. There was dancing in the streets — my favorite kind of happening.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

This Saturday, March 14th.
We play 1:00 – 2:30 on the Plaza Stage at Larkin facing City Hall.

Hope to see you in the sea of green bedecked revelers!

This is a family-friendly, free event.

The parade starts at 11:30 am at 2nd and Market and winds it’s way down Market to the Civic Center Plaza. There will be lots of food stands, activities for kids, and all things Irish.
