Musician Ed Ivey opened this hip beer and wine lounge in 2010 so it is fairly new and quickly gaining a very good rep. Check out the positive Yelp reviews to give you an idea of how cool 50 Mason Social House is.

Ed and I played together years ago in Polkacide. In fact when I auditioned for that band it was at a place that Ed shared with trumpeter, John Lieb.

The 2010 Cotati Accordion Festival was two days of squeezin’ bliss and a chance to hang with friends and fans and make new ones. I’m collecting all the photos and video and will be posting asap.

March 12 – Friday night at the Abbey Tavern on Geary in San Francisco. We play 9:30PM onward. FREE!

March 13 – Saturday afternoon at the 159th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, San Francisco. FREE Festival in the Civic Center Plaza starts 11AM. We play 3-5PM.

We had a blast playing this last year. There was dancing in the streets — my favorite kind of happening.

March 19 – Friday 9:30 at the Vibe, San Rafael with Miracle Mule. We play from 10:30 onward – $10.

This is our first time at this cool dance venue in Marin and it’s gonna be fun.

March 28 – Sunday – Marin Civic Center Farmer’s Market Music in the morning amidst the fruits and veggies.

Playing music for a music-loving, pro-beer crowd on a Sunday afternoon in perfect weather was a pleasure.

During our breaks the Golden Gate Bavarian Dance Club performed to taped traditional music. The dancers looked festive and danced fabulously. They wear beautiful green, black and white costumes, lots of pewter coins and chains, velvet hats, lederhosen, dirndls, the whole bit. And they can kick up their heels, literally.

It was a special treat for us when, during our sets, several of them danced. They could dance to anything we played – polkas, waltzes, Cajun two-step, swing, hasapikos, serba, Irish reel, whatever.

Beer holding and beer drinking contests were part of the event. Three of us valiantly competed in the Maß holding contests. The sun shone through the huge steins of golden German beer, one liter /33.8 oz. Maßkrüge to be precise, as the brave contestants struggled to keep from spilling or letting the Maß dip below shoulder line. It’s not that easy holding 5 1/2 lbs of beer and glass straight out from your shoulder!

Owners, Cindy and Peter know how to put on a good party. You owe it to yourselves to check out this local gem of a restaurant.
